Azeroth Survivors is a free, fan-made single-player roguelike by the creator Aethus that drops the auto-battling survival formula of Vampire Survivors into a world styled after classic World of Warcraft. What is Azeroth Survivors?
Azeroth Survivors is a free fan project inspired by Vampire Survivors and Megabonk, built around the look and feel of the classic World of Warcraft 1.12.1 era. Instead of following quest lines, you drop into an arena, survive waves of enemies with auto-cast abilities, and lean on the parts of Warcraft players recognize, from races and classes to familiar spells. It is a single-player game you open in your browser, with a downloadable Windows version offered on the site as an alternative. It is an independent fan work by Aethus, not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment, and it ships no Blizzard game files.
Classes, gear, and builds
You start by creating a character, with race and appearance options in the spirit of classic Warcraft, and each class has its own equipment pool. The in-game armory is organized around Character, Collection, Drop Tables, and Talents screens, so checking what gear your class can find is part of planning a run. Bosses can drop permanent items that you keep after the run ends, and every attempt also banks talent experience for your class. That means a failed run still feeds the next one: unlock a talent, slot a new drop, and push a little further. Because the game is in alpha, balance between classes and items shifts often, so treat any tier list as temporary.
How to play
Open wow.aethus.pl in an up-to-date desktop browser. Chrome is the recommended starting point, and the site also mentions Edge and Safari when explaining graphics compatibility, because the game needs WebGPU to render. If you see a WebGPU warning, update your browser and graphics drivers, make sure hardware acceleration is on, and on dual-GPU laptops try assigning the browser to the dedicated GPU before restarting it. If you see a 429 or a high-demand message instead, that is a server capacity limit rather than a graphics problem; check the project's Discord for status or use the Windows download linked on the site. Once the game loads, walk through the armory and talents first, then follow the in-game prompts for controls.
Frequently asked questions
Is Azeroth Survivors an official Blizzard game?
No. It is an independent fan project by Aethus, not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment. It is not a World of Warcraft mode or addon, and it does not use Blizzard game files.
Is Azeroth Survivors free?
Yes. It is a free fan game. You can play it in your browser at the project's website, and a Windows download is offered on the same site for players whose browsers struggle with the web version.
Does progress carry over between runs?
Yes. Bosses can drop permanent items that stay in your collection, and each run earns talent experience for your class, so every attempt makes the next one stronger.
Why won't Azeroth Survivors load?
The two usual causes are heavy demand, which shows a 429 or capacity message, and missing WebGPU support, which shows a graphics warning. For demand issues, retry later or use the Windows build; for graphics issues, update your browser and drivers or enable hardware acceleration. The game is in alpha, so occasional load problems come with the territory.
