The Hollow Floor 3 Puzzle: The Demonology Grave Lock

Last updated: 2026-10-26

Floor 3 of Roblox's The Hollow is the Demonology night: a shifting maze, a patrolling Biter, and a coffin sealed with a three-picture Grave Lock. The puzzle does not use a fixed code. Eight gravestones each carry a picture, a name, a birth year, and a death year, and the answer is the three symbols belonging to the people who died youngest. This walkthrough covers how to find the room, how to read the poem clue, how to calculate the ages, and what to do after the coffin opens - plus a calculator that turns your eight dates into the exact order to enter.

Grave lock calculator

Type the birth and death year from all eight gravestones. The calculator ranks the ages and prints the three symbols in the order the lock expects.

Broom
Ghost
Witch's Hat
Bat
Spider
Cauldron
Pumpkin
Scared Cat

Fill in all eight birth and death years to generate the entry order.

The calculator cannot fetch your gravestone data. It only ranks the years you type.

The short answer

Subtract each gravestone's birth year from its death year, then rank the eight results from smallest to largest. Enter the pictures from the three smallest ages in that order - youngest first. For example, ages of 39, 41, and 42 become Scared Cat, Ghost, and Spider if those are the pictures on those three graves. There is no fixed code to memorise, because the dates and pictures change between runs.

Where the Floor 3 Demonology room is

Floor 3 has no fixed puzzle room. The maze is rebuilt whenever you enter the Hollow, and the Demonology room moves with it, so coordinates from another player are only a starting point. The room itself is easy to recognise: an old graveyard-style space with eight gravestones arranged around a coffin in the middle. Players have reported finding it on the left side of the map, near a theatre-like room or a room with four posters on the wall, but treat those as hints rather than a guaranteed route. Search the side rooms instead of sprinting down the main corridor, and listen for the Biter, the Demonology monster that patrols this floor. If you are running with friends, have one player watch the entrance while the others copy the gravestone details. You need all eight dates before the lock will make sense, so do not start guessing symbols halfway through.

Read the poem clue before you touch the lock

Before you touch the coffin, find the poem clue. From the entrance, walk forward and look to your right: a large sheet of paper on the wall explains the puzzle in plain language. The key line is that the lock wants the three people who died youngest, not the oldest, the most recent, or anyone with a particular symbol. Every gravestone shows four things: a picture, a name, a birth date, and a death date. The eight pictures are Broom, Ghost, Witch's Hat, Bat, Spider, Cauldron, Pumpkin, and Scared Cat. Names, dates, and picture assignments are randomized, which is why a sequence from a video or a friend usually fails. Copy the dates for all eight graves before calculating anything. You only need the years: subtract the birth year from the death year.

How to calculate the grave lock code

The calculation is a single subtraction per grave: death year minus birth year equals age at death. Write all eight results down, then sort them from smallest to largest. The three smallest ages are the three graves you need, and their pictures form the three-picture password. Enter them in ascending order - youngest first, second-youngest second, third-youngest third. A worked example: if Scared Cat died at 39, Ghost at 41, Spider at 42, Bat at 45, Pumpkin at 50, Broom at 51, Witch's Hat at 55, and Cauldron at 62, the code is Scared Cat, then Ghost, then Spider. Do not enter the three oldest by mistake, and do not paste a sequence from a guide without checking your own graves. If two gravestones share the same age, the ranking is ambiguous; try the tied symbols in either order if the lock rejects your first attempt.

Open the coffin and claim the Third Night Relic

A correct sequence releases the Grave Lock and opens the coffin. Take the Third Night Relic from inside; it is the item the floor's progression checks for. Then head back into the maze and find the elevator while avoiding the Biter. Ride it down, finish the Demonology night's progression, and return to the lobby to claim the Festering Felix badge and its free Festering Felix head UGC. If the lock refuses your code, check three things in order: that you calculated all eight ages, that you copied the picture from the correct grave, and that the symbols are entered youngest to third-youngest. A single missed grave can change the bottom three, and one wrong picture will fail even if the order is right. Do not leave the room without the relic.

Why copied Floor 3 codes usually fail

Search results and comment sections are full of fixed three-symbol codes, and almost none of them will work in your run. The gravestone data is generated per playthrough and can change when the maze resets, so the puzzle is a logic check rather than a memory test. A useful guide can only teach the method or show one player's example; a page that hands you a code without telling you to check your own graves is guessing. The same rule applies to videos: the method transfers, the symbols usually do not. If you want to skip the arithmetic, use the grave lock calculator at the top of this page - it ranks your eight ages and prints the entry order, but it cannot know your random dates. Keep the page open on a second screen or phone while you read the graves.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Floor 3 puzzle in The Hollow?

It is a Demonology-themed grave lock. Eight gravestones show a picture, name, birth year, and death year, and the coffin needs the pictures of the three people who died youngest, entered youngest first.

Is the Floor 3 code the same for everyone?

No. Names, dates, and pictures are randomized per run and can change when the maze resets, so a code copied from another player will usually fail. Calculate it from your own gravestones.

What order do the three pictures go in?

Youngest to third-youngest. Subtract each birth year from its death year, rank all eight ages, then enter the three smallest in ascending order.

What do you get for solving the Floor 3 puzzle?

The Third Night Relic from the coffin. Carry it back to the elevator and finish the floor to claim the Festering Felix badge and the free Festering Felix head UGC.

When does The Hollow event end?

The Hollow opened on October 22, 2026, with a new floor and monster each night and a live finale on October 31. Rewards can be claimed until 12 PM PT on November 2, 2026.
