An airline run by the worst crew available

Banana Airways puts you and up to five friends on a low-cost flight where nothing is under control. The cabin is full of chicken passengers, some of them hungry enough to eat each other, some of them glowing from radiation, and one of them a baby that will not stop screaming.

The work is split the way an actual flight is split. Someone has to fly the plane, someone has to serve food and deal with passengers, and someone has to climb onto the wing to patch an engine that is on fire. Ignore any of those jobs for long enough and the flight ends badly.

This is an independent RandoPlay guide. We are not affiliated with Eggscape Entertainment, and the game is sold and distributed through Steam.

The demo

What you get for free

The demo is a full slice of the co-op loop rather than a trailer with a menu attached. It arrived on October 15, 2026 and ran through Steam Next Fest, where it was one of the most played demos of the event.

Free on Steam

No purchase and no sign-up beyond a Steam account. The demo is a separate store entry from the full game.

Windows and macOS

The demo ships a native Apple Silicon build. Steam lists macOS 12 with an M1 chip as the minimum.

About 1.02 GB

That is the installed size Steam reported for us, so it is a quick download compared with most co-op releases.

30 languages

Steam lists full interface support for 30 languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and Simplified Chinese.

Co-op structure

Three jobs, six people, one plane

Pilot

Fly the aircraft, hold a heading and try not to lose the plane while somebody fights a chicken in the aisle.

Cabin crew

Serve food, calm or remove passengers, put out fires and keep the cabin from turning into a feeding frenzy.

Outside repairs

Climb onto the wing mid-flight to fix an engine, and patch hull breaches before the cabin depressurises.

You can play solo, but the design assumes a crew. Steam lists online co-op only, so there is no split-screen or local mode, and every player needs their own copy.

Top 20 at Steam Next Fest

Eggscape Entertainment says the demo reached the top 20 of Steam Next Fest by concurrent players, out of more than 7,000 participating demos. The studio posted the result on Steam on October 26, 2026.

That number is the developer's own claim, not something we measured. It is still a useful signal of how much attention the demo picked up during the event, and it explains why the full game is worth watching.

Our hands-on note

What we could and could not test

We installed the demo on an Apple Silicon Mac. The main menu and the in-game HUD rendered correctly, and we reached the tutorial cabin, the cockpit and the online lobby, where live sessions were listed during Next Fest.

The secondary menus did not render usefully for us: settings, lobby, pause menu and loading tips drew their labels as tiny dots or left them blank, at native 5K, at 1920x1080 and at 1280x720. We reported it to the developer on October 26, 2026, and they passed it to their team.

Because of that, this page does not score the game, describe how a full flight feels, or judge its difficulty and content volume. Those judgements will wait until we can play a complete run.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Banana Airways demo free?

Yes. The demo is free on Steam and does not require a purchase. It has been available since October 15, 2026, and it was one of the demos featured in Steam Next Fest.

When does Banana Airways release?

Steam currently lists a planned Q1 2027 release for the full game. No final date or price has been announced, so treat that window as a plan rather than a promise.

How many players does Banana Airways support?

Up to six players in online co-op, and the game can also be played solo. Steam lists Single-player, Multi-player, Co-op and Online Co-op, but no shared or split-screen mode.

Does Banana Airways run on Mac?

The demo ships a native Apple Silicon build and Steam lists macOS 12 or later with an M1 chip as the minimum. The full game listing currently shows Windows PC only, so Mac support for the release is not confirmed.

Is Banana Airways the same game as Dear Passengers?

No. They are separate games from different studios that happen to share an airline co-op premise. Banana Airways is developed by Eggscape Entertainment, while Dear Passengers is developed by FLEXUS.

Is there split-screen or local co-op?

Not according to the Steam listing, which lists online co-op only. Each player needs their own copy running on their own machine.
